Malaysia’s fixed line incumbent Telekom Malaysia is set to launch commercial services over its newly constructed High Speed Broadband (HSBB) network on 24 March, according to Bernama. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is expected to act as a guest of honour at the service launch in Dataran Merdeka, where the politician will also launch the country’s new National Broadband Initiative, with the HSBB being a flagship project of the new initiative. TM CEO Datuk Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa moved to stress that early HSBB adopters would not find the service too costly, noting that packages would be of ‘premium service, but not premium pricing’. The telco’s HSBB bundles will include fixed line voice, high speed internet and IPTV, and will offer downlink speeds of up to 10Mbps.
