Channel NewsAsia reports Singapore’s acting Information, Communications and the Arts Minister Lui Tuck Yew as saying the country’s information and communications (ICT) sector saw growth last year – the only major sector to do so – despite the ongoing economic downturn, and reported that he expects the trend to continue into 2010. The government is committed to ensuring the nation maintains a very ‘pro-infocomm and pro-business environment’, he added, going on to note: ‘I expect IT spending to go up. The prognosis for the IT sector for 2010 is good. We know that in 2009, despite the downturn, it was one of the bright spots in terms of economic performance.’
