Revenues at Hutchison Telecom Hong Kong Holdings grow 4%

Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings (HTHKH) has released its audited results for the year ended 31 December 2009, posting 4% growth in consolidated revenue to HKD8.449 billion (USD1.089 billion). Turnover of the mobile business – Hutchison Telephone Company (3) – grew 3% to HKD5.578 billion, reflecting data revenue growth of over 50%, whilst mobile operating profit grew 97% to HKD483 million. Turnover of the fixed line unit – Hutchison Global Communications – increased 6% to HKD3.221 billion, boosted by a strong performance in the carrier market, and operating profit grew 10% to HKD398 million. HTHKH’s overall profit attributable to equity holders of the company increased 103% to HKD468 million. The 3 brand maintained a leading position in the 3G Hong Kong market with a total of over 1.4 million 3G subscribers as at 31 December 2009, representing 12% growth from the beginning of the year. Total 2G/3G mobile customer base in Hong Kong and Macau reached approximately three million, with the number of post-paid users standing at 1.9 million, or over 60% of the overall figure.
