Telenet eyes LTE

4 Mar 2010

Belgian cableco Telenet revealed yesterday that it plans to start testing LTE. ’3G is nice, but if you are a serious company like us you need to go for LTE. We really believe that if LTE works, it is the best way forward,’ stated CEO Duco Sickinghe. The company says it will focus on mobile data as it sees little potential in competing in the saturated mobile voice market. Telenet currently offers wireless services as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) over Mobistar’s network, but is keen to expand. The Belgian government are due to auction 4G licences later this year.
