Latin American wireless carrier NII Holdings has reported a quarterly profit that missed market estimates, hurt by a drop in net new subscribers and higher operating expenses during the period. In the quarter ended 31 December 2009 the number of net subscribers added dropped 4% to about 347,000. Q4 net income rose to USD59.6 million from USD2 million a year earlier. Consolidated operating revenue rose 25% to USD1.23 billion. Operating expenses rose 27% to USD1.06 billion. For 2010, the company forecast total net subscriber additions of 1.3 million to 1.4 million. It expects consolidated operating revenue of USD5.2 billion to USD5.4 billion.
