VIPnet claims to hold nearly 60% of mobile broadband market

25 Feb 2010

Croatian mobile operator VIPnet, a subsidiary of Telekom Austria, has reported that it increased its subscriber base by 4.7% year-on-year to 2.6 million at the end of December 2009, which it claimed gave it a market share of 42.6%. In addition the cellco revealed that its number of mobile broadband customers reached 137,000 at the end of the year, up by around 77% year-on-year, giving it a near-60% share of the segment, it claimed. VIPnet posted annual revenues of EUR477 million (USD646 million), down from EUR524 million the year before, as increases in its post-paid subscriber base failed to offset reductions in blended ARPU.
