Brazilian fixed line telco Embratel Participacoes posted net profits of BRL327 million (USD175 million) in the three months ended 31 December 2009, up a massive 181% on the corresponding year-earlier period, on revenues that rose 7.2% to BRL2.77 billion. In an earnings statement, Embratel reported that quarterly EBITDA reached BRL762 million, up 20.8% year-on-year, helping increase EBITDA margin to 27.5%. In FY2009 Embratel’s net income reached BRL1.29 billion, up 111% y-o-y on annual revenues that rose 8.4% y-o-y to BRL10.6 billion.
