French mobile base climbs 3% in Q4, up 6% y-o-y

According to data published by the French telecoms regulator Arcep, the country and its overseas departments and territories (DOMs) was home to 61.46 million mobile phone customers at the end of December, an increase of 1.8 million from the end of September, and 6% higher than the figure recorded at 31 December 2008. Overall cellular penetration increased to 95.8% from 93% at the end of September, it added. In metropolitan France, which excludes DOMs, the market share of MVNOs rose to 5.93% from 5.54% at the end of September, Arcep said.
