UNE reports burgeoning pay-TV base

Colombian telco UNE EPM Telecomunicaciones ended last year with 802,408 subscribers in the pay TV segment, compared to 523,455 subscribers a year earlier, giving it a market share of 25.06%. The overall pay TV market ended 2009 with 3.2 million subscribers, with a total 46,199 net additions during the year, according to data from sector watchdog CNTV. The number of providers meanwhile fell from 61 to 55. In the IPTV segment, UNE ended 2009 with 87,000 subscribers.
