Ecuador passes two million fixed lines

According to Ecuador’s telecoms supervisory body Suptel, the country had 2.01 million fixed lines in service at the end of December 2009, which it said translated to a teledensity of 14.4%, up by 0.9 percentage points in twelve months. Suptel reported that state-run national PSTN operator Corporacion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones (CNT) held on to just over 90% of the market at the end of the year with 1.81 million fixed line customers.
