FET contracts Ericsson for HSPA network upgrade

Taiwan’s third largest mobile operator by subscribers Far EasTone (FET) has awarded Swedish equipment manufacturer Ericsson a five-year contract to provide upgrades for its 2G and 3G networks. Under the contract, which is worth between TWD3 billion (USD93.75 million) and TWD4 billion, Ericsson will upgrade FET’s core network with IP technology while simultaneously improving the firm’s HSPA network, increasing peak download speeds to up to 21Mbps. The deal also covers technical and maintenance services.
