Telefonica may bid for Colombia's ETB

Telefonica is interested in buying a controlling stake in Colombian state-owned telco Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota (ETB), writes local newspaper La Republica. Telefonica’s Alfonso Gomez told La Republica his firm was analysing whether to buy the company, but declined to say how much he thought ETB was worth. Telefonica is also considering the telecom unit of state-owned utility Emcali as a possible target, Gomez said.
