19 Jan 2010

Communications solutions provider NextiraOne has announced it will play a major role in the implementation of new telecoms infrastructure for the German federal state of Lower Saxony. The company was selected by nordcom Niedersachsen, a subsidiary of utilities provider EWE Tel, to build, operate and service voice solutions and network infrastructure for 2,150 locations in Lower Saxony. The project forms part of the implementation of a state-wide communications network, dubbed the Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) Next Generation Network (NI-NGN), with a total value of EUR164 million (USD235 million). The aim of the project is to modernise the entire telecoms infrastructure of the federal state’s government offices. NextiraOne will connect and service the sites, including 75,000 users, and the central PBX system. ‘This project clearly demonstrates NextiraOne’s leading position in the communications services market,’ noted Margarete Schrambock, CEO of NextiraOne Germany, adding, ‘Our expertise and scale makes us an ideal partner for the deployment of reliable unified communications solutions that bring real efficiency gains.’
