Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) has awarded Chinese equipment vendor an OMR10 million (USD25.9 million) contract to expand the incumbent fixed line operator’s next generation network (NGN), Reuters reports. Huawei beat bids from US equipment maker Cisco Systems and French company Alcatel-Lucent, as well as Swedish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia.
