Dow Jones reports that Chunghwa Telecom’s unaudited net income for 2009 stood at TWD47.3 billion (USD1.5 billion), up 5.1% year-on-year. The improvement came despite a 1.5% decline in revenue to TWD184 billion. Chunghwa has yet to comment on the results. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, the company is Taiwan’s largest telco, boasting 97% of the country’s fixed lines in service and claiming more than 70% of both the wireless and broadband subscriber markets. Full audited results for 2009 are due in March.
