Videotron reports 2009 progress

Quebec-based cable operator Videotron has released its operational results for the end of December 2009. Its cable television service increased its customer base by 61,400 in 2009 to 1,777,000, whilst as of 31 December there were 1,170,600 subscribers to Videotron’s cable broadband service, compared with 1,063,800 at the end of 2008. During the year the cableco completed the rollout of its ‘Ultimate Speed’ 30Mbps and 50Mbps services to more than three million Quebec households and businesses. Videotron’s cable telephony service had signed up 1,014,000 residential and business subscribers by end-2009, compared with 852,000 one year earlier. As Videotron prepares for the upcoming launch of its own 3G mobile network in its home province, as of end-December 2009 it had 82,800 active users of its MVNO wireless service, up from 63,400 at the same date in 2008.
