Net Servicos inks transmission capacity deal with Embratel

4 Jan 2010

Brazilian publicly listed cableco Net Servicos de Comunicacao (Net) has concluded an agreement with fellow operator Empresa Brasileira de Telecomunicacoes (Embratel) concerning the acquisition of transmission capacity on the latter’s high capacity IP backbone infrastructure. In a statement, Net said that given the increased importance of broadband services in terms of its future growth and the high costs involved in building its own network, it has agreed ‘irrevocable and indefeasible’ terms to use Embratel’s network in the long term for the provision of its broadband service by entering into Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) agreements.
