According to a report by news agency Reuters, Tele2 Group CEO, Harry Koponen, has announced that the company will speed up its regional deployments, launching in the remaining areas of the country where it holds licences by summer next year. Koponen added that the company is on track to meet its target of 18 million to 19 million customers in Russia by the end of 2011: ‘That is exactly our prognosis. 18 million to 19 million seems to be doable.’ According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Tele2 had 13.3 million subscribers at the end of September 2009, up from 12.38 million three months earlier, and commanded a 6.5% share of the cellular market.
