VDC to boost capacity to 100Gbps

21 Dec 2009

Vietnam Data Communications (VDC), the wholly-owned ISP subsidiary of state-run telecoms company Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT), plans to increase its broadband capacity to over 100Gbps by the end of 2010, local news source Viet Nam News reports. At present, the ISP’s network has a capacity of 45Gbps, which accounts for over 70% of the country’s total. VDC hopes the move will consolidate the leading position of its ADSL ‘MegaVNN’ service. Next year the operator will focus on improving its value added services. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, VDC had an estimated high speed internet subscriber base of 1.59 million at 30 September 2009.
