The number of registered SIM cards in Brazil passed 169.8 million last month, according to the country’s National Telecommunications Agency, or Anatel. In November, a total of 1.7 million net new additions were recorded, a 1% rise on the previous month, it said. Vivo Participacoes, a joint venture between Spain’s Telefonica and Portugal Telecom, led the market at the month-end with a 29.6% market share, ahead of Telmex-owned Telecom Americas (Claro) with 25.4%, and Telecom Italia’s TIM Brasil in third with 23.8%.
