3G auction statement expected Friday

15 Dec 2009

Dow Jones Newswires reports that the French telecoms regulator Arcep is expected to announce the result of the tender for the fourth and final 3G licence on Friday, with Iliad’s Free Mobile unit tipped to be given the green light to enter the market. The ISP is the only company to have submitted a bid for the licence. If it is given the go ahead, Iliad will be required to pay EUR240 million (USD351 million) for the concession and be expected to fork out around EUR1 billion to develop a national mobile network.
