Telkomsel picks Juniper service gateway solution

14 Dec 2009

Indonesian mobile operator Telkomsel has inked a deal with Juniper Networks for the supply of the latter’s SRX5800 Services Gateways in its packet switched core network, CommsDay International reports. The new platform will enable the cellco to handle the high IP traffic growth it is experiencing. ‘Broadband penetration in Indonesia is still very low but we’ve seen IP traffic really take off, driven by mobile broadband customers and users of Apple iPhones and other handsets capable or running sophisticated IP applications,’ said Telkomsel’s vice president for technology development Siswanto Dasijo.
