Verat named winner of WiMAX tender

Serbian ISP Verat has been named by the Montenegrin telecoms regulator as the winner of a tender for radio frequencies to provide electronic and communication services based on fixed wireless and WiMAX technologies. The Agency for Electronic Communications & Post (Agentel) said Verat promised to pay a one-time fee of EUR23,000 (USD34,100) and invest approximately EUR6.6 million over the next five years. Verat, which is owned by private equity group 7L Capital Partners Emerging Europe LP, beat bids from Telekom Srbija-owned wireless network operator MTEL and ProMonte, the local wireless arm of Telenor.
