Huawei and TI complete LTE tests

Chinese equipment vendor Huawei Technologies and Telecom Italia (TI) have announced the completion of tests across a trial Long Term Evolution (LTE) mobile broadband network in Turin. The network, comprising 14 LTE cell sites, exhibited downlink speeds of up to 140Mbps per cell, demonstrated by three simultaneous connections. Sandro Dionisi, head of TI Labs said: ‘This first technical trial with Huawei represents a very important milestone in the development of LTE network technology in line with the future goals of TI. The results reached so far reinforce our partnership with Huawei and our joint commitment in deploying the LTE technology that will continue next year.’ As reported by CommsUpdate, the trial began on 24 November 2009.
