CURE, Smart apply for licence extension

Filipino mobile operators Smart Communications and Connectivity Unlimited Resources Enterprises (CURE), which trades under the banner Red Mobile, have separately applied for licence extensions to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC). It is understood both companies are requesting that the regulator extend their current ‘certificates of public convenience’ to operate their networks for at least 18 months. As it stands, both companies’ permits will expire in January 2010.
