MTS nearing takeover of fixed telco Eurotel

According to Bloomberg, quoting Russian paper Vedomosti, Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) is seeking regulatory approval to buy fixed network operator Eurotel for a price in the region of USD150 million. The Russian cellular group is already in talks with Eurotel and plans to make a final decision on the purchase after the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service has ruled on the application. Moscow-based Eurotel operates in the wholesale market supplying trunk lines to telecoms operators, according to its web site.
