MegaFon 3Q net profit down 7.9%

Russian cellco MegaFon has posted net profit of RUB11.4 billion (USD391 million) for the three months ended 30 September 2009, a year-on-year decline of 7.9%. Revenues for the period climbed by 1.2% to RUB47.4 billion while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) slipped by 2.2% year-on-year to RUB23.55 billion. The company also revealed that its total liabilities stood at RUB40 billion at the end of September 2009. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, MegaFon was Russia’s third largest mobile operator by subscribers at the end of 3Q09, with 48.32 million customers, up from 41.55 million a year earlier. The cellco had a total market share of approximately 23.6% at the same date, trailing only Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) and Vimpelcom.
