AGCOM limits SMS charge

27 Nov 2009

Italian telecoms regulator AGCOM has announced that the country’s four major network operators have agreed to fix SMS pricing at a limit of EUR0.11 plus VAT, reports Reuters. Until now there had been no limit on the price charged for the sending of a text message. Telecom Italia, Vodafone, H3G and Wind will be affected by the rule change, which enters into force from the end of January. The watchdog also revealed that customers would be able to choose to be charged by the second for calls rather than the per-minute method used currently.
