Naguib Sawiris, the chairman of Egyptian communications group Orascom Telecom, is reportedly interested in acquiring French telco Bouygues Telecom if its parent Bouygues is willing to sell, La Tribune reports. The French paper says that while no formal discussions have yet taken place, Sawiris ‘would be interested if they had the intention to sell.’ A tie-up with the French operator would make sense the Orascom official said, adding: ‘It would reinforce our presence in the Mediterranean, improve our roaming possibilities, there would be many synergies.’
