Czech altnet Ceske Radiokomunikace (CRa) has inked a deal with mobile network operator T-Mobile Czech under which the former’s residential and SME customers will become T-Mobile customers. From 1 December the cellco will begin providing former CRa customers with telecoms services, which both sides say should not affect the quality or continuity of services provided. It is understood T-Mobile is also purchasing the technical infrastructure needed to provide voice and data services for the customers in question.
In September this year CommsUpdate reported that T-Mobile’s Czech unit had agreed a deal to purchase CRa’s retail operations for an undisclosed fee, as it looks to establish a platform in the country’s fixed line market. As a result of the transaction T-Mobile hopes to carve itself a niche in the fixed line segment – including DSL internet access. The move leaves CRa free to concentrate on its core TV, radio broadcasting and broadcasting infrastructure provision business.
