Belizean mobile operator SpeedNet Communications (SMART) has reported that it has restored its international call services, but with ‘some technical difficulties’. As reported previously in CommsUpdate, recently re-nationalised incumbent Belize Telemedia Ltd (BTL) announced that it would cut off SpeedNet’s international transmission circuits until a historical commercial wholesale agreement it deemed unfavourable to its business was renegotiated. On Friday, telecoms regulator the Public Utilities Commission suggested that BTL reconnect the SMART service until an amicable solution is worked out.
