Korek opts for Ericsson billing platform

24 Nov 2009

Kurdish mobile operator Korek Telecom has selected Swedish telecoms equipment provider Ericsson to deploy a billing system for the operator’s post-paid subscribers, TradeArabia reports. According to deputy CEO of Korek, Dr Abdul Hameed Akrawi, the new billing system forms the first phase of a larger project related to the upgrading of the cellco’s billing infrastructure. The new system will help deliver billing accuracy and enriched functionality to enable a wide range of services and promotions. The agreement will further enhance the partnership between Korek and Ericsson; in the past six years the two have worked together on projects such as network expansion. The report adds that Korek is currently working on the provision of nationwide coverage with ongoing network deployments in the central and southern parts of Iraq.
