German mobile operator Telefonica O2 Germany plans to end its roaming agreement with T-Mobile Deutschland, the domestic wireless unit of incumbent telco Deutsche Telekom (DT), at the end of 2009, Reuters reports citing Rene Schuster, head of Telefonica’s German unit. ‘We now have a very strong network and will terminate the national roaming agreement with DT at the end of the year,’ Schuster told weekly newspaper Euro am Sonntag. Analysts have estimated that the move will save O2 around EUR150 million-EUR170 million (USD223-USD253 million).
