Caribbean wireless specialist Digicel Group Limited has reported a 10% increase in its first half EBITDA to USD364 million, on revenues of USD857 million (+3%). At the end of September 2009 Digicel’s subscriber base in 24 Caribbean markets and El Salvador stood at 7.3 million, up 7% year-on-year. Colm Delves, group CEO said: ‘These results demonstrate a strong start to the financial year with Digicel increasing profits and subscribers even in a tough economic climate. Despite increased competition, Digicel is winning market share as customers continue to prefer the better value offered by Digicel’s bigger, better network.’

In the first half of its fiscal year Digicel announced several achievements including the completion of a USD160 million high-yield bond issue that was more than two times over-subscribed and the acquisition of Orange Dominica from France Telecom.
