VIP doubles up

16 Nov 2009

VIP Mobile’s parent group Telekom Austria today published the group’s financial results of the first nine months of 2009, showing that the Macedonian venture is going from strength to strength. VIP Mobile doubled its net income in the period under review, compared to the same period last year, to EUR6.2 million, which Telekom Austria attributed to higher traffic as well as increased number of subscribers. The company said a total of 265,500 subscribers had been registered by 30 September 2009, equivalent to a mobile market share of 12.9%. Commenting on the performance VIP Mobile chief executive officer Nikola Ljusev said: ‘The income increase indicates in the best way that VIP knows how to take advantage of the [domestic economic] crisis. We proved that we know how to recognise the needs of the market and how to offer real solutions according to the expectations.’
