Huawei and Triple T to invest USD40m in telecoms projects

The Bangkok Post reports that Chinese investors are expected to join with Thai partners in investments worth up to USD1 billion across a range of sectors following a visit by a business delegation from Guangdong province, according to the Thai Board of Investment (BoI). Atchaka Brimble, the BoI secretary-general, said 24 memoranda of understanding were signed yesterday for projects worth USD733 million, and the agreements include a venture between Chinese communications technology firm Huawei and Thai ADSL network operator Triple T Broadband, a majority-owned subsidiary of Jasmine International and associate of provincial fixed line and broadband network operator TT&T. Huawei and Triple T agreed to invest USD40 million in local telecoms development projects.
