Swedish cableco Com Hem has announced that its 100Mbps (download) broadband service ‘XXL’ now passes 1.4 million households, or around a third of homes in the country. ‘This is a contribution to meeting the government’s target of [giving] 90% of Swedes access to 100Mbps broadband by 2020,’ said Tomas Franzen, CEO of Com Hem. The expansion means that around 95% of the company’s cable network is capable of providing the 100Mbps service, and Com Hem plans to offer up to 1.5 million households the super-fast speeds by March 2010.
