ComCom fines Swisscom for overcharging

5 Nov 2009

Switzerland’s competition watchdog ComCom has fined Swisscom CHF220 million (USD215 million) for abusing its dominant market position when setting wholesale ADSL prices. ‘The Competition Commission is of the opinion that Swisscom occupies a market dominant position in the broadband market and that until the end of 2007 the prices it charged for broadband connectivity services were too high,’ Swisscom said. The telco added that it would contest the ruling and is confident of winning an appeal and is therefore not setting aside any provisions.
