According to data published by the Hungarian telecoms regulator the National Communications Council (NHH), the country was home to a total of 1.661 million fixed broadband subscribers at the end of September 2009, of which 808,000 were ADSL users and 853,000 were on a cable modem connection. The watchdog’s figures are based on data collected by the main telcos, including Magyar Telekom, and for the eleven largest cable modem providers, which include UPC, T-Kabel, FiberNet, DIGI and PR Telekom.
