Huawei to deploy DWDM for Mediacom

Chinese equipment vendor Huawei Technologies has announced that it has been selected by US cableco Mediacom to deploy Next-Generation Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (NG-DWDM) transport across over 4000km of its backbone network through the states of Missouri, Iowa and Minnesota. Under the agreement, Huawei will provide Mediacom with its OSN6800A NG-WDM platform utilising the latest in optical technologies with multi-degree ROADM, tunable optics, and OTN cross-connects. The network solution will support 10/40G and future 100G wavelengths to competitively deliver advanced, high bandwidth services. Greg Euker, director of IP networks at Mediacom, said: ‘Huawei’s technology and solutions will allow us to migrate to a next-generation platform and cost-effectively deliver innovative services to meet the growing demands of our business and residential customers.’
