XL’s third quarter profit up 35% y-o-y

Indonesian telecoms group Excelcomindo Pratama (XL) has reported net profit of IDR1.20 trillion (USD124.8 million) for the three months ended 30 September 2009, up 34.9% on the IDR890.9 billion figure reported in the corresponding year earlier period. EBITDA was up 3% year-on-year to IDR4.2 trillion it added, while the EBITDA margin was 43%. The company reported that positive EBITDA growth, capital spending policies supported by strong free cash flow had helped the ‘positive changes’ in the operator’s results in the period from January to September. The financial performance was bolstered by a 6% year-on-year rise (8% q-o-q) in subscribers to 26.6 million as at 30 September 2009. Of these, around 25.2 million were pre-paid users it said.
