VTC Digital Communications, the telecoms arm of state-run Vietnam Multimedia Corporation (VTC), has chosen US-based Minerva to supply its iTVManager middleware platform for the delivery of IPTV services in Vietnam, VNBusinessNews reports. Under the first phase of the project, the telco will offer IPTV to over 100,000 subscribers across the country, with plans to expand the service in the near future. Minerva’s solution enables the delivery and management of next generation video services over broadband networks, including high-definition TV and Video-on-Demand (VoD). ‘We needed a proven, open and scalable system that would enable us to offer our customers a differentiated television experience,’ commented Tien Dat Chu, executive vice-president of VTC Digicom, adding, ‘Minerva’s iTVManager combines a responsive and flexible client module with a robust and highly scalable back-office service management platform.’ According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, VTC will join state-owned telco Vietnam Post and Telecommunications (VNPT) in the country’s IPTV market. The operator officially launched its ‘MyTV’ service in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City last month.
