Iliad confirmed as sole 3G licence bidder

30 Oct 2009

France’s telecoms regulator Arcep has confirmed that domestic broadband and fixed line provider Iliad (Free) was the sole applicant to place a bid for the country’s fourth 3G mobile network operating licence by yesterday’s deadline. Iliad, bidding under the name Free Mobile, is expected to find out if its application is successful before Christmas; Arcep previously said that in the absence of rival bids it will make a decision on the licence award before the end of the year.
