Comstar enters second stage of consolidation

29 Oct 2009

Russian fixed line operator Comstar United TeleSystems has announced that it has commenced the second stage of its structural reorganisation programme. As reported by CommsUpdate on 11 August, the first stage was successfully completed earlier this year when the company merged seven of its largest subsidiaries into ‘Comstar-Regions’, a new wholly-owned entity created to serve as the centre for future consolidation of the firm’s regional assets. The second stage will see 18 more subsidiaries combined with Comstar-Regions as the company looks to build a unified operational platform from which it can upgrade its networks and services easily on a regional level. Comstar-Regions comprises branches in the Central, North-West, Southern, Volga, Ural and Siberian federal districts, with corresponding centres in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Saratov, Yekaterinburg and Tyumen.
