Mexican cableco Megacable is believed to be mulling entering the wireless sector via an agreement with an existing mobile operator, according to a report by Reuters, citing comments by senior executives at the company. Megacable is considering an option to launch mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) services with a view to offering quad-play packages, with Raymundo Fernandez, Megacable’s general manager, noting: ‘In quadruple play, we are still looking at an MVNO model with one of the actual players. You might find something about that in the near future – the very, very close future.’ Additionally, the executive also revealed that Megacable is considering the option of bidding for spectrum in the upcoming auctions expected to take place before the end of the year.
