J:COM posts sales growth following subscriber gains

Japanese multiservice cable, broadband and telephony operator Jupiter Telecommunications (J:COM) has recorded revenue of JPY246 billion (USD2.7 billion) for the nine months ending 30 September 2009, up 13% year-on-year. Sales were boosted by a 15% increase in high speed internet subscription fees to JPY62 billion on the back of strong subscriber base growth. At 30 September J:COM boasted 2,587,900 households (up 10%) subscribing to its cable television service, 1,559,000 households (up 16%) taking high speed internet services and 1,714,400 (up 13%) for telephony services.
