Versatel to deploy data network in Oberhausen

German fixed line operator Versatel Communications has announced it has been awarded a contract by the city of Oberhausen to deploy a broadband data network connecting 128 buildings with the town hall. ‘With the new contract…Versatel has consolidated its position as the leading telecommunications partner of the cities and towns in the Ruhr,’ said Cheng Hai, CSO of Versatel, adding, ‘Our technical infrastructure and our knowledge of the specific requirements and needs of our local customers will help us make it an ideal partner, especially in the field of regional and national data networking.’ As reported by CommsUpdate on 21 September, Versatel recently won a nationwide tender to exclusively provide new telephone connections to all administrative offices in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein.
