Orange adheres to regulator’s warning over illegal network installation

Moldova’s telecoms regulator, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI), has said that Orange Moldova has complied with a warning issued by the watchdog over the cellco’s illegal installation of a network in the village of Crihana Veche in the Cahul district. On 24 September Orange filed a set of documents to the regulator in order to be granted the right to install a telecoms network in the village. Six days later however, ANRCETI informed the operator that it had failed to submit the full set of paperwork required. Later the agency discovered that Orange had already started the installation works, without having been granted permission to do so, and it warned the cellco that if it failed to stop deployment of the network the matter would be taken to court. Orange has since informed the agency that the works have been halted and said that in the future it will provide all the necessary documentation to prevent the matter from occurring again.
