Uzbekistan cellco UCell has inked a deal with Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to expand its core network capacity. The vendor will install mobile softswitching and packet core network technology, transport equipment, base station controllers, home location registers and media gateways. No financial details have been disclosed. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, Ucell, 74%-owned by TeliaSonera, finished June 2009 with more than 3.9 million subscribers and a market share of 27.3%.
