According to the Economic Times, Indian mobile network operator Tata Teleservices (TTSL) is confident of expanding its GSM-based services, which are offered under the Tata DoCoMo banner, to at least seven more circles before the end of 2009. The cellco has already initiated GSM services in eleven circles, but according to comments from Anil Sardana, TTSL’s managing director, it is ’confident of covering 18 circles by December’. The executive also noted that the company had applied for licences in the Jammua & Kashmir, Assam and North East circles. In addition, Sardana said that the focus for the company moving forward would be on value added services (VAS), revealing that 14% of TTSL’s revenues currently come from VAS, a figure which the cellco hopes to increase to 20% within the next three years.
